A great number of people belive that the Persians were the first carpet weavers. Making of rugs carpet requires tremendous amount of work. That is why a handmade Persian rugs became a symbol of wealth and luxury. Presently Iran(former Persia) produces more rug carpets than all other rug producers alltogether. Handmade Persian rugs , unlike machine-produced rugs, are all unique. No two identical can be found. Each one has its own patterns and designs. All the Persian rugs can be divided into categories. There are different types of Persian designs motifs: Geometric; floral and pictorial. Each category has many different styles. Even all of them can be combined in a single carpet. Geometric Design rugs are decorated with linear elements of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.
